THE STORY OF ANATAE
Camille Becerra, the founder of Anatae, tells you her story
ANATAE was born in the hills of Japan at the end of 2018. “Anatae” (あなたへ) is a very respectful way of saying “FOR YOU” in Japanese . After meeting a multitude of producers, tasting countless matchas, visiting several fields and factories , this long and exciting quest had just come to an end: I had found the 3 best matcha teas in Japan!
Passionate about world cultures and concerned about my diet , the captivating flavor of matcha and its long list of health benefits , discovered in 2016 during a trip to Asia, gradually gave birth to an idea in me: to import quality matcha from Japan to France . The idea became a project when I realized that the matcha that we were starting to find in France was often of very poor quality.
I then decided to spend several months traveling in the land of the rising sun, searching for a matcha producer who was, in terms of taste, the best of the best ! The matcha I was looking for also had to be adapted to French tastes. I was looking for it to be very tasty, not very bitter, almost sweet . During my research, I met Kana, a farmer with whom I now work. She told me that the river that ran alongside the tea fields of some of her “competitors” had, over the years, lost all its fish due to their use of pesticides .
