How to consume it

To enjoy it as a drink, preparation is simple: Place 1 g of hojicha (a level teaspoon) in a bowl and then pour in 70 ml of water at a temperature of 70-75 °C. Since the tea is powdered, there is no infusion. Simply stir the powder before drinking. Good news if you don't have a whisk or electric frother for its preparation: hojicha dilutes more easily than matcha. A simple spoon can be enough! Then add more water if you wish. This Japanese drink can be enjoyed with meals or enjoyed outside of meals, depending on your preferences.

You can also add milk to your preparation instead of water. This will create a "hojicha latte." We recommend oat milk, hot or cold: delicious! In summer, opt for an iced latte!

This Japanese green tea is also a delicious baking ingredient! Its roasted notes and woody aroma will bring an enchanting flavor and delicacy to your creations. Add it to your recipes for cakes, ice creams, smoothies, etc. Food pairing: hojicha, whether consumed as a drink or as a recipe ingredient, pairs wonderfully with gourmet flavors: peanut butter, caramel, maple syrup, cocoa, vanilla... For 100% Japanese flavors, black sesame or matcha.

🌿 THE MANY BENEFITS OF HOJICHA TEA

• Hojicha relaxes, soothes, reduces stress and anxiety thanks to the L-theanine it contains (a natural calming agent).
• Rich in polyphenols, hojicha helps strengthen the immune system, boost metabolism and facilitate transit, making it a tea with multiple benefits.
• The vitamin C it contains helps preserve the skin's elasticity and fight against impurities.
• Hojicha is a drink with many benefits for those suffering from osteoarthritis. Thanks to its high pyrazine content, it can improve blood circulation and, therefore, joint health.

CONSUMPTION: WITH WATER, IN A HOJICHA LATTE OR AS A DESSERT

Hojicha is a roasted, ground green tea. To prepare hojicha tea as a hot or cold beverage, here are a few simple steps:

• Steps 1 and 2: Place 1 tsp of hojicha in a cup with a little water.
• Steps 3 and 4: Mix with a spoon. Enjoy it as is, with a little more water, or add milk for a delicious hojicha latte.

Hojicha is also delicious in pastries and cakes.

HOJICHA: A ZERO WASTE ORGANIC TEA

Born in the 1920s in Japan, hojicha tea is made using a zero-waste approach. During the harvest and production of teas (including matcha), farmers set aside the parts of the tea plant containing the least caffeine/theine (its veins and stems). It is from these parts of the plant that hojicha is made.

This hojicha tea is certified organic by Certipaq Bio France. It is grown without pesticides or chemicals. All our tea plants live in harmony with nature, surrounded by an incredible multitude of insects that we leave undisturbed.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS HOJICHA?

Hojicha is a roasted and then ground green tea with sweet and aromatic notes. Very popular in Japan, its taste is often reminiscent of cocoa or coffee. Very tasty and healthy, hojicha is the ultimate comforting drink. This hojicha tea is certified organic by Certipaq Bio France. All our tea plants live in harmony with nature, mingled with an incredible multitude of insects that we leave at home in peace.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOJICHA AND MATCHA?

Hojicha and matcha have one thing in common: they're green teas ground into a very fine powder. This makes them easy to incorporate into your drinks or recipes!

However, the production and harvesting methods for these two teas differ. Hojicha is made from the stems and veins of the tea plant, while matcha removes these parts to keep only the young tea leaves. Their flavors are also different: matcha has a vegetal and fresh flavor, while hojicha is more toasty and comforting.

HOW TO STORE HOJICHA?

Storage: Keep your jar of hojicha tightly closed in a cool, dry place (e.g., in a cupboard away from direct sunlight). This way, its taste and benefits will be optimal for 3-4 months after opening.
